My name is Lauren White and I have been in orchestra, band and chorus my whole life! I started in orchestra and played violin for 8 years. I started playing French horn in 6th grade and continues playing both in school until I got to high school. I continued my violin lessons privately while I pursed band with the ensembles during the school day. While in high school I took IB Music Theory, was the President of my band and started fundraising initiatives for uniforms and instruments that are still intact to this day. I performed with the Metropolitan Wind Ensemble under the Levine School of Music at prestigious halls such as the Kennedy Center, Germany Embassy, Masonic Temple and more. I was chosen to be the senior soloist and performed on stage F. Strauss' Nocturne No. 7, still one of my favorite pieces to play today.
I attended my freshman year in college at Clemson University under a scholarship playing in the Tiger Band and studying Performing Arts Management. In order to study Music Education in junction with my performance, I transferred to George Mason University to complete my Bachelor's. I received a BA in Music with additional Music Education coursework in Strings, Brass, Percussion, Keyboard, and Guitar. My final year, I was in a car accident in which I fractured my jaw and had problems playing with my left hand. I had to adapt to playing with my right hand on a old marching E Flat horn, "Baby Euphonium". I am extremely versatile and can teach you the same resilience in your playing.
I took a break from music for a few years while getting my Master's at the University of Miami to receive an MS Ed in Sport Administration to continue my passion for coaching and education in the fitness world. However I fell in love with Florida and have been only coaching on the side. The past few years I have been in Corporate America and only keeping music and sport as a hobby. I have since left and working on music and teaching full time. I am currently performing with the Symphonic Bands of the Palm Beaches on a regular basis as their principal horn and growing my horn studio. I will be playing with the Nova Orchestra for Ceremonies and more in the coming future. Please reach out to me if you need a horn for any gigs, I love to perform and teach! Check out our calendar and events for our performances or studio performances.
I currently can teach my students either at my home in Fort Lauderdale or am willing to travel to my students home or school. Lessons with me can range between 45 minutes to 90 minutes. I love to work with all ages and have with children as well as adults returning to music. I have a passion for coaching and teaching others. I look forward to helping you meet your musical goals and enriching the South Florida community with more music.
